The IPL fined Virat Kohli 24 lakh
After RCB defeated RR by 7 runs, the IPL fined Virat Kohli 24 lakh, and the rest of the team was also penalized.
Virat Kohli is leading the team
Faf du Plessis’ inability to play has resulted in Virat Kohli leading RCB in their last two matches.
Due to Faf du Plessis’ injury, who served as the team’s regular captain, Kohli has been serving as captain for the last two games. Due to an intercostal strain of grade 1, Du Plessis has been unable to play in the field.
RCB defeated RR by 7 runs
Royal Challengers Bangalore may have defeated the highly regarded Rajasthan Royals in a crucial match to earn their second straight victory, but the entire team was hit with fines following the match. Virat Kohli, who was named the captain of the team for the game, is the most notable of these.
IPL statement
In a statement, the IPL stated that while the rest of the team received smaller fines, Kohli received a fine of 24 lakh for the RCB’s slow overrate during the RR innings.
IPL fined RCB
“On April 23, 2023, at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru, RCB played Rajasthan Royals in the Indian Premier League (IPL). As a result, the team maintained a slow overrate, which resulted in a penalty,” according to the league.
As a result, his team violated the IPL’s Code of Conduct regarding minimum over-rate offenses for the second time this season. A fine of Rs. 24 lakhs was imposed on Kohli. A fine of Rs. 6 lakhs or 25% of the match fee, whichever is less, is imposed on each player in the starting XI, including the impact substitute.
The climax of the match
For the final over of the RR innings, the RCB was limited to using only four fielders outside the 30-yard circle because they were behind the overrated. For the final two overs, RR needed 33 runs to win.
Mohammed Siraj conceded 13 runs, primarily as a result of a six that Dhruv Jurel hit off the second-to-last ball of the over, leaving RCB to defend 20 runs in the final over. It was bowled by Harshal Patel, and RR only managed to get 12 runs off of it, giving RCB a seven-run victory.
RCB’s first offense of slow overrate
In their one-wicket loss to the Lucknow Super Giants at home on April 10, RCB committed its first over-rate offense. Since this was their first offense, Du Plessis, who was captain at the time, received a 12-lakh-rupee fine.
Faf du Plessis’ performance
The injury hasn’t had an impact on Du Plessis’ batting form. Similar to the match against RR, the former South African captain was replaced by an impact player following RCB’s innings. His 84 runs in 56 balls, which helped RCB reach a score of 174/4 against PBKS, made him the game’s highest scorer. The match was won by RCB by a margin of 24 runs.
Summary of the match
Against RR, Glenn Maxwell delivered 77 off 44 balls, while Du Plessis made 62 off 39 balls. The pair shared a 127-run third-wicket standoff with just 66 balls, and RCB finished with a total of 189/9. Devdutt Padikkal scored a half-century for RR, and Dhruv Jurel fought valiantly in the dying stages with an unbeaten 32 off 16 balls, but they could only reach 182/6.
