India and Overseas Numbers
The film Adipurush, featuring Prabhas, Saif Ali Khan, and Kriti Sanon, has garnered mixed reviews from critics. However, the movie’s box office performance on its opening day suggests that audiences are not affected by the reviews. According to industry tracker Sacnilk, the Telugu market has contributed the most to the film’s earnings, with an estimated collection of 58.5 crore rupees. The Hindi version has generated 35 crore rupees, while the Tamil and Malayalam versions have made around 70 lakh and 40 lakh rupees respectively.
Girish Johar, the producer and business expert, stated that the film has earned approximately 35 crore rupees from the overseas market. He also mentioned that the movie’s overall earnings worldwide on the first day amounted to 133 crore rupees.
Adipurush is ahead of Brahmastra
The Hindi version of Adipurush was not able to beat this year’s biggest blockbuster Pathaan which opened at ₹57 crore in India. It is also behind Yash starrer KGF2, which opened at ₹54 crore in India. But Adipurush is ahead of highly anticipated Ranbir Kapoor starrer Brahmastra, which opened at ₹36 crore in India.
Adipurush Quick Review
One of the most expensive Indian films has received poor reviews from audiences. People have called it a crass film with cartoon like visuals, cheap dialogues, distortion of the original epic story, cast that doesn’t do justice with the characters. A plea has been filed by Vishnu Gupta, National President of Hindu Sena, in Delhi High Court against the movie for hurting Hindu Sentiments. This plea also seeks the removal or correction of objectionable scenes related to Lord Ram, Sita, Hanuman, and Ravana. Adipurush makers have not yet responded to this plea.
