BCCI declared the Indian squad for World Cup 2023

Former cricketer Aakash Chopra believes that young wicketkeeper/opener batsman Ishan Kishan is an excellent candidate for India’s ODI World Cup squad in 2023. From October 5 to November 18, India will host the next World Cup. Shubman Gill and Rohit Sharma will start the innings. Ishan Kishan, a 25-year-old with an ODI double-century, is considered the best option for an additional opener. The team’s keeper, KL Rahul, is also considered the best option for the wicketkeeper.

Ishan Kishan is worthy of being in the Indian World Cup Team squad

“Ishan Kishan, a young wicketkeeper, is excellent at being in India’s team for the ODI World Cup in 2023,” according to former cricketer Aakash Chopra. But can Ishan Kishan be a contender to replace the starting opener in the lineup for the major event? Aakash Chopra is unsure.

From October 5 to November 18, India will host the next World Cup, which will occur later this year. The position of third opener in the squad will come in run by Shikhar Dhawan and Ishan Kishan. Dhawan was one of the Men in Blue’s top players in 50-over ICC competitions.

Shubman Gill And Rohit Sharma Will Start the innings

Aakash Chopra highlighted that Shubman Gill and Rohit Sharma will be India’s first-choice openers in a video posted to his YouTube channel.

“Another left-hander is present. Ishan Kishan is his name. Since you have to retain the three openers—Shubman Gill, Ishan Kishan, and Rohit Sharma—it initially appears he is the obvious choice. Logically, Ishan Kishan should be in the lead, but is he?”

“Ishan Kishan serves as an alternative opener while Rohit and Shubman open. From the conversation’s standpoint, it is completely correct – he has an ODI double-century and always contributes to the team, so his name belongs there.”

The 25-year-old played 14 games for India and amassed 510 runs at an average of 42.5. In the ODI against Bangladesh, the left-handed batsman scored 210 runs, breaking the ODI record for the fastest double hundred.

Having Sanju Samson as a backup wicketkeeper is a great idea

The former cricketer turned commentator stated that KL Rahul would be the team’s first-choice wicketkeeper and that Sanju Samson could back him up.

“The story will take a turn because of who the team’s keeper is, who also serves as the second wicketkeeper. I don’t think Ishan Kishan’s centered on what he is doing. It depends on the team’s balance and who will serve as the keeper.”

“The position of your subsequent wicketkeeper should be the same as your first wicketkeeper when batting. KL Rahul might serve as the first wicketkeeper if he gets healthy because you need somebody in the center of the order. Sanju Samson will start in KL Rahul’s place if he doesn’t get fit, or you can consider Jitesh Sharma, a completely unorthodox option.”

Sanju Samson recorded a remarkable average of 66 and a strike rate of 104.76 while scoring 330 runs in 11 ODI games. In his brief career, the right-handed batter scored two half-centuries, with a best mark of 86.
