Project ‘Inshallah’ was supposed to reunite Salman Khan and Sanjay Leela Bhansali after 12 years. Reportedly, Alia Bhatt was chosen by filmmaker to lead opposite Salman Khan. But this project got shelved due to creative differences.
During 68th Filmfare Awards on Thursday, where Salman Khan was one of the hosts, teased Sanjay and Alia about the shelved project during the time in event when ‘Gangubai Kathiawadi’ film starring Alia Bhatt won an award for dialogues.
Sanjay announces that he was working with Alia on ‘Gangubai Kathiawadi’ post shelving ‘Inshallah’. Gangubai ended up winning eight awards including Best Film, Best Actor in Leading Role (Female) and Best Director. Other stars in this movie includes Ajay Devgn, Shantanu Maheshwari, Jim Sarbh and Vijay Raaz.
A project that reunites Salman and Sanjay is still highly anticipated by fans. In the past both worked together in Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam(1999) and Saawariya(2007). The filmmaker shared his desire to work again with Salman Khan. Last year, he told Bollywood Hungama that “My utmost regard and respect for the person who did Khamoshi for me, who did Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam for me, and who stood by me during Sawariyaa. He has been an important part of who I am today and I will always respect him for it. The ball is in his court for him to decide if he wants to work with me.”
