KKR dominated RCB by 21 runs in the IPL

Virat Kohli, the captain of Royal Challengers Bangalore, has attributed his team’s 21-run loss to Kolkata Knight Riders on April 26 at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 to unprofessional fielding by his team.

About the match

Vyshak Vijay Kumar and Wanindu Hasaranga stood out for Bangalore with a pair of wickets each, but they missed vital catches that ended up paying them sincerely.

When it came time to chase, Bangalore made a strong start, but the Kolkata spinners wouldn’t let the opposition escape, and they won the match by regularly taking wickets of the opposition.

KKR used spin magic to defeat RCB by 21 runs in the IPL on Wednesday, snapping a four-match losing streak after Jason Roy’s brilliant fifty. After RCB captain Virat decided to bowl at KKR’s home stadium, the English opener spearheaded the charge with a 29-ball 56 as the KKR batters blazed in unison to post a valiant 200/5.

Varun Chakravarthy (3/24) and Suyash Sharma, a young spinner, caused havoc in the top order before Andre Russell (2/29) ended Kohli’s struggle and reduced RCB to 179 for eight.

Position of teams in the point table

With the victory, KKR (six points in eight games) moved from last place to seventh, ahead of the Mumbai Indians in net run rate. MI has a game scheduled. With eight points from eight games, RCB maintained its fifth-place position.

Virat Kohli’s statement

“To be perfectly honest, we gave them the game. We were entitled to lose. We gave them the upper hand. We certainly didn’t meet expectations. You can see from the game that we failed to take advantage of our opportunities. We missed a few opportunities, costing us 25–30 runs. We prepared ourselves well,” Kohli said during the post-game awards ceremony.

In Kohli’s opinion, they lost the game because their batters kept losing wickets to errant deliveries. He also mentioned that they only needed one more partnership to seize control of the situation.

Even though winning on the road is more intense, Kohli urged his teammates to avoid making easy plays. He added that they would try to capitalize on the momentum while playing at home.
