As LSG wins the last-ball thriller, Gambhir throws a mouthful and then “quiets” the audience following a heated argument with Kohli.
After LSG defeated RCB in an exciting last-ball victory, Gautam Gambhir aggressively celebrated and then engaged in a heated discussion with Virat Kohli, setting off a furor online.
Over the course of the majority of IPL 2023, Gautam Gambhir has used fewer words and expressions. But the emotional ups and downs at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium on Monday night led to a raucous celebration of him that went viral online.
Nobody could have anticipated that Lucknow Super Giants would be able to chase down 213 against Royal Challengers Bangalore after losing three wickets in the powerplay.
Marcus Stoinis’ energetic half-century and Nicholas Pooran’s brisk half-century, however, had put LSG in a position to win successfully before Ayush Badoni’s untimely exclusion gave RCB a possibility of avoiding that victory.
After a dramatic final over in which Dinesh Karthik failed to properly gather the final ball and Harshal Patel botched his attempt to run out at the non-end, the striker’s LSG eventually prevailed by one wicket. Additionally, Gambhir’s aggressive action lit up the internet amid the joyful celebration in the LSG pit.
One needed off of two, Chinnaswamy was silent for a moment before going into a frenzy as Harshal bowled LSG batter, Jaydev Unadkat. The match could still go to a Super Over, according to RCB. The fielders drew closer to stop that single. Faf du Plessis, the captain of the RCB, spoke with the bowler for a final time while LSG batsman Ravi Bishnoi removed his helmet at the non-striker’s end.
The batter, Avesh Khan, made an unsuccessful attempt to make contact with the full-toss pitch that was thrown low. He, along with Bishnoi, however, immediately left for a single. But wicketkeeper Dinesh Karthik, who had chosen to take off his right glove, made a costly error for RCB at the worst possible time, allowing LSG to complete the single and secure the one-wicket victory.
A short while later, Avesh and Bishnoi were seen by the cameraman celebrating the thrilling victory before their teammates arrived. The celebration of Captain KL Rahul was joyful as well, but it was Gambhir’s wild celebration that got Twitter a-buzz. Before high-fiving his LSG teammates, Gambhir was spotted throwing up.
After the uproarious celebrations, Gambhir entered the center as the players from both teams gathered to shake hands. Virat Kohli, a former captain of the Royal Challengers Bangalore, was standing directly in front of Gambhir. The two interchanged a brief glimpse before shaking hands firmly.
Not for the first time, Gambhir’s celebratory post on social media has gained a lot of attention. A similar gesture made by Gambhir after his team’s last-ball triumph over Kolkata Knight Riders during the earlier IPL went viral on the internet and triggered a meme frenzy.
