Dinesh Karthik Predicts WTC Final 2023 After End Of Day 1

India finds themselves in a difficult position in the World Test Championship final after an unbeaten century by Travis Head and a score of 95 not out by Steve Smith on the first day, giving Australia a significant advantage. Despite initially reducing Australia to 76-3 after opting to bowl, India struggled as Travis Head and Steve Smith formed an unbroken partnership of 251 runs, allowing Australia to end the day at 327/3. Australia is poised to achieve a high score, and considering their strong bowling lineup, the situation looks unfavorable for India.

Former Indian Keeper Batsman Dinesh Karthik Predicts WTC Final 2023 After End Of Day 1

Dinesh Karthik, a former cricketer turned commentator, believes that India needs to take early wickets on the second day and restrict Australia to a total below 420. He emphasizes that any score exceeding that will greatly diminish India’s chances of winning, leaving them with the option to play for a draw as the only positive outcome.

Karthik expressed his opinion, saying, “If India wants to make a comeback in the game, it is crucial for them to take three early wickets in the first session. Failing to do so will put us significantly behind. We would immediately start considering a draw as a victory. Australia possesses a lengthy batting lineup, and if we can’t dismiss them before they reach 400-420, it will be an arduous task.”

Meanwhile, the Oval pitch seems favorable for batting, although Ravindra Jadeja has managed to find some turn. India had to make a decision about fielding three pacers along with Ashwin and Jadeja or selecting an additional pacer, ultimately opting for Umesh Yadav. Initially, this choice seemed suitable due to overcast conditions, but as the sun came out, the pitch transformed into a paradise for batsmen. Unfortunately, Umesh Yadav did not perform well and struggled with his line and length.
