Hardik Pandya, the skipper of India’s T20I team, faced criticism for his comments following the West Indies series defeat. He responded that a single setback doesn’t matter much and that dedication to a target is crucial. Ravichandran Ashwin, a teammate of Hardik, disagreed, stating that losing a series to the West Indies is dissatisfying but also mentioning that young players may find it challenging to tour the Caribbean islands.
Ashwin also cited the words of legendary Indian cricketer MS Dhoni, who said that losing teaches you a lesson, but those who continue to learn after winning will excel. Ashwin also highlighted the advantages and potential weaknesses for Team India in T20s, highlighting the opening act of Yashasvi Jaiswal and Shubman Gill and the lack of depth in the batting department.
Ashwin cites MS Dhoni after Hardik’s “doesn’t matter” comment on the T20I series loss
“MS Dhoni and some of my mentors have stated that forfeiting offers you a valuable lesson. But those who keep learning after winning will succeed,” Ashwin stated.
The Internet can be brutal sometimes
Social networking sites can be awful. It also requires much time to develop a perspective, and it only takes a wink of an eye to change it. Hardik Pandya, the skipper of the India T20I team, is the most recent casualty in Indian cricket. Following the West Indies series defeat, the all-rounder received harsh criticism for his remarks.

Hardik’s response received criticism
Hardik responded that he wouldn’t mind being unusual when asked about the possibility of losing a series after 17 years. After West Indies defeated India in the fifth and final T20I to win the series 3-2, Hardik stated that a single defeat “doesn’t matter” much.
After the game in Florida, Hardik said, “In perspective, one series here or there doesn’t matter, but dedication to a target is crucial.” He added that one shouldn’t make too much of this series loss because the T20 World Cup in the West Indies and the USA is still far off.
“I don’t believe…,” Ravichandran Ashwin
Ravichandran Ashwin, a teammate of Hardik, objected to that. “I don’t believe it is too soon (to discuss the T20 World Cup),” he said on his YouTube channel. While acknowledging that losing a series to West Indies is dissatisfying, Ashwin also noted that young players may find it challenging to tour the Caribbean islands.
Ashwin’s statement
“I am not endorsing, advocating for, or speaking for anyone. These are all secondary. There will be some difficulties if you travel to the West Indies as a young person. There are certain innate secrets in every nation. These facts are more prevalent among locals than among visitors. More so if the players are young,” Ashwin continued.
“Dhoni & some coaches teach me…,” Ashwin
Although Ashwin did not use Hardik’s name, he used the words of legendary Indian cricketer MS Dhoni to impart a crucial lesson. “MS Dhoni and a few of my coaches have said that losing teaches you a lesson. However, those who continue to learn after winning will excel,” he added.
Ashwin also outlined the advantages and potential weak spots for Team India in T20s. He pointed out Yashasvi Jaiswal and Shubman Gill for their opening act and Suryakumar Yadav and Tilak Varma. Ashwin identified the lack of depth in the batting department as the main problem for India’s T20 team.
