A sportsman’s life has always included sports and tragedies, but what transpires if an event is too severe for the person to heal from? In his most recent film, Ghoomer, R. Balki explores this topic and a bit of patriotism. The background score, composed by Amit Trivedi, complements the movie’s inspirational moments.

Plot of the movie

Saiyami Kher plays the young cricketer Anina in the movie Ghoomer. She is a fantastic batsman who always intended to represent India. Her dedication gets rewarded when she gets picked for the Indian women’s cricket team.

On the other hand, Abhishek Bachchan’s portrayal of former cricketer Padam Singh. Although he was one of the best of his era, unfortunate circumstances conspired against him, and his cricketing career ended just as quickly as it began.

Story of the movie

Anina meets with an accident two days before the group departs for England, shattering her dreams. She loses her one hand and becomes utterly shocked. On the other hand, Padam Singh is currently a drunken loser. But as their paths cross, Padam Singh decides to help Anina revive her career and prepare for the upcoming series for Team India. As a bowler this time around instead of a batter.

Review of the movie

Ghoomer’s story is the most compelling and best feature. It is captivating and gripping. All the emotions are present. You’ll feel proud, angry, sad, and even cry. You become more patriotic as well because, of course, nothing unites the nation like cricket. The first half’s relative slowness is the only thing against Ghoomer. It takes some time for the story to develop. Not to mention that after a certain point, the story becomes predictable.

Saiyami Kher and Abhishek Bachchan give outstanding performances, and R Balki’s direction is superb. Saiyami Kher performs at her very best in Ghoomer. In Ghoomer, Abhishek Bachchan delivers a smooth performance. Even though he is a harsh coach, his complicated performance is endearing. Shabana Azmi makes a cute little eccentric grandmother who loves cricket.

A few dramatic scenes are over the top and occasionally seem cliche. However, these might get overlooked because the movie is still pretty good overall. The story has a more authentic feel thanks to Amit Trivedi’s background music. The film is interesting in the second half. However, Amitabh Bachchan’s guest appearance as a commentator steals the show.

Final Verdict

The Abhishek Bachchan and Saiyami Kher-starring movie is an inspiring journey that leaves you feeling motivated, appreciative, and moved. It makes sure that you are smiling. You find yourself laughing and intrigued by its dialogue and writing.

Even though the movie’s box office success won’t be known for some time, it’s still a fantastic choice to watch this weekend.
