Launch of the Gadar 2 trailer
The cast and producers of Gadar 2, the follow-up to Anil Sharma’s hugely successful international drama from 2001, unveiled the trailer on Wednesday. In addition to the rest of the Gadar 2 cast, performers Sunny Deol and Ameesha Patel appeared at the Gadar 2 trailer launch occasion, which occurred in honor of Kargil Vijay Divas.
Sunny Deol gets criticized
When Sunny commented on India-Pakistan relations at the premiere of his upcoming film’s trailer, it garnered attention, and many people on Twitter, now known as X, slammed the actor.
The actor and BJP lawmaker from Gurdaspur in Punjab attributed the animosity between India and Pakistan to a “political game.” His ‘diplomatic’ remark caused much discontent on social media.
Remarks made by Sunny Deol
At the Gadar 2 trailer debut, lead actor said, “Kuch le jane yah lene-dene ki baat nahi hoti hai, Insaniyat ki baat hoti hai. Ladai nahi honi chahiye. Yeh siyasat ka khel hota hai, dono taraf utna hi pyar hai, jo sab nafratein paida karta hai. Aap dekhenge iss film mein bhi, or woh hi. Ek dusre ke sath hum jhagda kare janta nahi koi chahti.”
“(The essence of humanity is found in giving and receiving, not in taking, as the saying goes. The two sides shouldn’t end up in a conflict. Love exists on both sides. The political blame game, a theme in this movie, breeds animosity between India and Pakistan. Since we truly are one and identical, the citizens of both nations seek peace).”
On X, someone yelled, “Sunny Deol, get out of the cave. Visit Pakistan now.”
One comment reads, “Gadar’s USP was criticizing Pakistan. The audience needed to feel made nostalgic, so continuing that bashing was the only conceivable method for the Gadar follow-up to succeed. But ironically, at the promotions, the leading man is promoting the emotions of the long-dead “aman ki asha” (hope for peace)!”
