About the alleged liquor scam

After the former deputy chief minister, Manish Sisodia, Singh is the second prominent person detained in the alleged liquor scam. Sisodia received custody by ED after getting apprehended by CBI in February. The Delhi government left alcohol retail sales when the under-scanner excise policy took effect in November 2021 for the fiscal year 2021–2022. Private players were able to place bids on licenses.

The excise policy ended after Delhi’s lieutenant governor, VK Saxena, requested an inquiry into alleged inconsistencies. The investigation agency asserts that bribes originated to enact the policy. The Enforcement Directorate has made 14 arrests and brought five legal complaints.
