Assam experiences tremors as a 4.8 magnitude earthquake strikes Bangladesh


Guwahati, Assam, and other parts of the North Eastern region experienced earthquake tremors on Friday morning. An earthquake with a magnitude of 4.8 reportedly occurred in northern Bangladesh. There have been no reports of deaths or earthquake-related property damage as of yet. The second earthquake of the week was this one. On June 11, Assam experienced its most recent earthquake.

It is the second earthquake incident this week, following the magnitude 5.4 quake that shook Delhi, North India, and some areas of Pakistan on Tuesday.

Assam, the North Eastern region, and Bangladesh felt earthquake tremors

On Friday morning, Guwahati, Assam, and other areas of the North Eastern region felt earthquake tremors. According to reports, an earthquake with a magnitude of 4.8 struck Bangladesh’s northern area.

The National Centre for Seismology Statement

Today, the National Centre for Seismology reports on 10:16:15 IST, there was an earthquake with a magnitude of 4.8. It occurred in the Bangladesh region at Latitude: 24.86 and Longitude: 91.98, at a depth of 70 kilometers.

On the Richter Scale, the earthquake had a magnitude of 4.8

According to the National Centre for Seismology, the earthquake occurred around 10 in the morning (IST), with Bangladesh serving as its epicenter. So far, there have been no reports of any fatalities or property damage caused by the earthquake.

The National Centre of Seismology, which monitors seismic activity in India, confirmed the earthquake’s magnitude as 4.8 on the Richter Scale.

Jammu and Kashmir experienced two earthquakes

Jammu and Kashmir experienced two earthquakes this week. The National Centre for Seismology reported in two separate tweets that a magnitude 5.4 earthquake struck Doda on Tuesday and a magnitude 4.3 earthquake struck Katra on Wednesday. Some areas of Pakistan and North India experienced light tremors.

A Srinagar resident who spoke to a news organization said, “The earthquake alarmed schoolchildren. Shop patrons hurried out. It spooked me. The tremors from last week weren’t as strong as this one.”

The most recent earthquake which struck Assam

An earthquake of 3.6 magnitude struck the central part of Assam earlier on June 11, according to an official bulletin.

According to a report by the National Centre for Seismology, the most recent earthquake, which had its epicenter in Sonitpur district on the Brahmaputra river’s northern bank, was felt at 11:35 am.

According to the report, the quake was five kilometers deep.
