Diljit took to the stage on Sunday and performed some of his biggest hits while wearing a black kurta-Tamba, a matching turban, and statement yellow gloves. The actor-singer performance was shared on the festival’s official Twitter account, along with the message, “@diljitdosanjh got Sahara shining.”

Additionally, Diljit uploaded a number of his favorite pictures from the memorable evening, simply labeling them “Coachella.”

US festival is “taken over” by South Asian performers

Dosanjh and Ali Sethi from Pakistan attracted sizable crowds to their energetic performances over the weekend. By coincidence, Google’s most-searched song in 2022 was the latter’s Pasoori, which is still very well-liked among Indian diasporas.

Dosanjh, famous for songs like “Do You Know,” “G.O.AT,” and “Patiala Peg,” entered the stage dressed in traditional Punjabi garb, including a black kurta and Tamba.

On his Twitter account, director Imtiaz Ali shared a clip of the celebrity performing while he and his daughter Ida Ali were at the music festival. He praised Diljit Dosanjh by writing, “saadda vir te saaddi kudi #coachella..ich @diljitdosanjh you make us honored #firstindianatcoachella,” in a message. “I’m delighted that you had the chance to create it. @idaali11.”

Many of Diljit’s Bollywood friends and co-stars took to their Instagram accounts to share videos of the star and celebrate his accomplishments, in addition to his fans who posted pictures and videos of him having a blast on stage.

The co-stars of Diljit’s movie “Udta Punjab,” Kareena Kapoor and Alia Bhatt, shared a clip of the actor performing at Coachella on Sunday on their Instagram accounts. Bebo accompanied “The OG” with numerous star and heart emojis.

Alia posted the same video and wrote, “EPIC!” in response to the singer’s “Ik Kudi.”

Arjun Kapoor, the star of “Ki & Ka,” also referred to Diljit as the G.O.A.T. on his Instagram story.

Rakul Preet Singh showed her joy at Diljit’s contribution to the advancement of Punjabi culture. Rakul posted Dosanjh’s performance reel and coined the phrase “Wohoo Punjabi Fever at Coachella. You’re such a show-stopping performer. Dil Jit Lita Sab Da.”

“Globally Representing Punjabiyat!! So proud of you, Pahji!!!” gushed another artist, Harshdeep Kaur, in reaction to Dosanjh’s social media post.

“Up until this point, I had never felt the need to attend Coachella. “FOMOOOOOOOO!!!!!!! #BROWNPRIDE,” lamented someone else.

International Artist Reaction

Diplo, an American DJ and music producer, was seen dancing in the audience while “Patiala Peg” was performing. The American DJ-record producer posted a video of the performance on Instagram along with the message, “First Punjabi musician performing at Coachella and y’all thought I would miss it?”
