In the race for Karnataka CM, DK Shivakumar pledged, “Congress is My Temple, Won’t Backstab”
DK Shivakumar, the president of the Karnataka Congress and one of the two candidates for the chief minister of Karnataka, declared on Tuesday that he will not “backstab nor blackmail” anyone in the final moments before departing for New Delhi.
“If I meet the requirements (for the CM post), they will hire me. Why worry?” he questioned.

DK Shivakumar: I will not backstab or blackmail
“Our total number is 135, and we are a brought-together one. I’m not going to split this group up. I am a responsible man, whether they like me or not. I will not strike back,” he announced at Bengaluru’s airport.
Shivakumar, an eight-time MLA, is regarded as a “troubleshooter” for the party. He also serves as the Gandhi family’s dependable lieutenant.
I will never forget Sonia Gandhi’s coming to me while I was incarcerated
After the Karnataka election results were announced, Congress’ tallest Vokkaliga leader, Shivakumar, started crying in front of the cameras.
He recalled Sonia Gandhi’s visit to the Tihar prison in Delhi, where she had met him when he had been detained by the Enforcement Directorate in connection with a money laundering investigation, in 2020.
“I reassured Mallikarjun Kharge, Rahul Gandhi, Sonia Gandhi, and Priyanka Gandhi that I would win Karnataka. I will never forget Sonia Gandhi visiting me in jail,” Shivakumar told the media.
Congress leadership invited both contenders for the Chief Ministerial post to Delhi
The Congress national leadership invited him and Siddaramaiah, who were both front-runners for the position of Chief Minister, to Delhi for talks. Shivakumar initially postponed his trip to the national capital on Monday night, citing health reasons.
The head of the Karnataka party unit stated that “the Congress General Secretary had requested him to travel alone, and he would be traveling to Delhi alone” on Tuesday before departing for Delhi. On Monday, Siddaramaiah traveled to Delhi.
DK Shivakumar’s statement
“I have good physical health. There is no need for anyone to be concerned because the Congress party is my temple and our greatest strength,” Shivakumar remarked at the airport.
“The people have favored the Congress. To maintain and increase public confidence in us, we must work together. May Karnataka become a “Sarva Janangada Shantiya Thota” (Garden where all races exist in harmony), with the help of the people of the Kannada naadu (region), mother Bhuvaneshwari, and mother Chamundeshwari (goddesses),” he added.
“DK Shivakumar’s strength is 135”
Shivakumar stated on Monday that “his strength is 135” because it was under his leadership that the Congress won 135 seats in response to rumors regarding the number of MLAs backing him and Siddaramaiah for the position.
In the recently completed Assembly elections, the Congress won with a resounding 135 seats, while the BJP and the Janata Dal (Secular) secured 66 and 19 seats, respectively.
