National icon Tendulkar will encourage voter awareness
To promote higher involvement of voters in the voting process, the Election Commission (EC) will recognize cricketing legend Sachin Tendulkar as a “national icon” on Wednesday. Tendulkar and the election panel will sign a protocol here on Wednesday. Tendulkar’s three-year contract includes him promoting voter awareness.
“This association represents an important breakthrough regarding employing Tendulkar’s legendary influence with young voters to boost voters’ involvement in the upcoming elections, especially in the general elections (to Lok Sabha), 2024,” the EC stated in an announcement.
Sachin Tendulkar played for India in 200 Tests and 463 One-Day Internationals throughout a 24-year career, setting records for runs (15921 in Tests and 18426 in ODIs) and centuries (51 in Tests and 49 in ODIs).
