For the 2nd consecutive day, India recorded over 1,800 new Covid cases in 24 hours


India recorded a daily positivity rate of 3.19 percent and a weekly positivity rate of 1.39 percent.
The active caseload passed 10,000 with 1,805 new Covid cases added in the last 24 hours, indicating an ongoing rise in infections.

According to Union Health Ministry data updated on Monday, India recorded over 1,800 new Covid cases for the second consecutive day, bringing the active caseload to over 10,000. The number of fatalities has increased to 5,30,837; six deaths were reported in 24 hours in Chandigarh, Gujarat, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttar Pradesh, with Kerala reconciling two of them.

The most recent data, which was updated at 8 a.m., shows that there are now 10,300 active cases. The health ministry reported that as of Sunday, there were 9,433 active cases.

According to union health ministry data updated on Monday, active cases have surpassed 10,000 in 134 days.

As India continues to report an increase in coronavirus infections, union health secretary Rajesh Bhushan will meet with state health secretaries and senior officers today to review Covid-19 preparedness. The review meeting will provide information on the nationwide trial scheduled for next month at health facilities in all districts.
According to a joint audit report declared by the Union Health Ministry and the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), both public and private health facilities are anticipated to take part in the activity to evaluate the availability of medicines, hospital beds, medical equipment, and medical oxygen.

The statement emphasized the drop in Covid testing rates when contrasted with World Health Organization standards (WHO).
“As a result, it is essential that we keep efficient COVID-19 testing that is distributed equally all over nations” (with the appropriate alteration to discuss the rise of fresh clusters of Covid cases). To stop the spread of viruses, it is especially crucial to spot any potential hotspots and take preventative action”, quipped.

The total number of Covid cases is 4.47 crore, according to the data (4,47,05,952).

On the website of the health ministry, active cases currently make up 0.02 percent of all infections, with a national covid recovery rate of 98.79 percent.

The nationwide Covid vaccination drive resulted in the administration of 220.65 crore doses of Covid vaccine, according to the ministry’s website.

Government is looking at preparedness of medical infrastructure to track the preparedness in case another breakout of this virus occurs. Government is planning for a preparedness drill on April 10 2023 for the same.
