Kapil Sibal’s Jab at the Vice President about Manipur


Rajya Sabha MP Kapil Sibal claims that when the prime minister declines to comment on Manipur or respond to inquiries, it disrupts the Temple of Democracy. It comes after Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar claimed that chaos and interference had been weaponized as a tactical way to tarnish the temples of democracy. The opposition wants the PM’s statement on the Manipur issue first, but the administration is willing to have a brief debate with HM.

Kapil Sibal: “The prime minister declines to comment…”

When the prime minister declines to comment on Manipur or respond to inquiries, the Temple of democracy is “disturbed and disrupted,” according to Rajya Sabha MP Kapil Sibal.

“After Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar asserted that disorder and influence had been weaponized as a tactical way to harm the temples of democracy,” Sibal comments.

Sibal claimed in a tweet that “Vice President: disturbance and impairment become weaponized…to impair temples of democracy… A shrine where the prime minister declines to comment on Manipur and respond to inquiries? When that happens, the Temple of Democracy is “disturbed and disrupted!”

The opposition wants the PM’s statement on the Manipur issue
The opposition is passionate about calling for the prime minister’s statement first, but the administration is willing to have a brief debate on the Manipur problem with the Home Minister responding.

Dhankhar’s address at the Jamia Millia Islamia University

In his speech to the Jamia Millia Islamia’s centenary year convocation on Sunday at Vigyan Bhawan, Dhankhar stressed the value of education for the advancement of society and urged young people to take charge of their futures.

“Democracy is about engaging in conversation, debate, and deliberation to advance the common good. Democracy can’t be about upheaval and commotion,” declared Dhankhar, the chairman of the Rajya Sabha.

He added, “I am hurt and devastated to share with you that influence and deterioration became armed as a strategic means to undermine the temples of democracy.”

Anurag Thakur asked the opposition to participate in the dialogue

The Parliament is still in a standoff between the government and the opposition. Anurag Thakur, a Union minister, urged the opposition to partake in the discussion and not “run away” from it yesterday.

The chairperson halted the House numerous times because of the opposition’s furor in the Parliament over the Manipur viral clip in which two women paraded naked on May 4.

Today in Parliament, the parties are protesting and asking the prime minister to address the House.
