Rahul Gandhi And Mallikarjun Kharge To Attend Opposition Meeting


To inspire the opposition ahead of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, Nitish Kumar, the chief minister of Bihar, has convened a meeting of the top opposition leaders. Rahul Gandhi and Cong Party President Mallikarjun Kharge will also be in attendance. The Nationalist Congress Party’s Sharad Pawar announced on Thursday that he would attend the gathering of opposition parties. Tejashwi Yadav, the deputy CM of Bihar claims that 15 parties will attend the meeting. Stalin, the head of the DMK, had earlier asked to postpone the meeting. After leaving NDA, Nitish Kumar promoted the creation of a united opposition front.

Cong Prez will attend the opposition meeting

Mallikarjun Kharge, the party president, and Rahul Gandhi will attend a meeting of the top opposition leaders called by Nitish Kumar, the chief minister of Bihar, to galvanize the opposition in advance of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, the Congress General Secretary KC Venugopal announced on Friday.

Sharad Pawar, the leader of the Nationalist Congress Party, announced on Thursday that he would attend the gathering of opposition parties.

Tejashwi Yadav: 15 parties will participate in the meeting

Tejashwi Yadav, the deputy chief minister of Bihar, stated that close to 15 parties will participate in the meeting while speaking to the media in Patna on Thursday. Tejashwi Yadav did not get a chance to speak with Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao, so Tejashwi Yadav could not confirm his attendance.

The gathering, which aimed to prepare the ground for like-minded Opposition parties to unite against Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the BJP government at the Centre, was initially scheduled to take place on June 12.

The meeting was postponed many times in the past

The meeting was delayed, though, after many opposition figures—including Congress national president Mallikarjun Kharge and Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin—expressed that they would be unable to attend the June 12 meeting due to other commitments and obligations.

DMK leader Stalin asked to postpone the meeting

Following JDU’s earlier announcement of the Opposition parties’ meeting on June 12, Stalin, the leader of the DMK, stated that he had sought to delay the gathering because he would be attending an inaugural ritual on that day.

Nitish Kumar advocated for the unified opposition front

Since he participated in the Grand Alliance in August of last year and left the National Democratic Alliance, and formed a new government, Nitish Kumar has been advocating for the unified opposition front.

Akhilesh Yadav, the leader of the Samajwadi Party, Mamata Banerjee, and Arvind Kejriwal are just a few of the leaders Mr. Kumar has brought on board. These individuals have previously made it clear how they feel about the Congress.
