Rahul Gandhi Will Begin the Lok Sabha Discussion on Motion of No Confidence


Congressman Rahul Gandhi got reinstated in parliament after the Supreme Court halted his conviction in a 2019 defamation case involving the Modi surname. Today, he will open a no-confidence vote against Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s administration in the Lok Sabha. The move comes three days after the Supreme Court halted Gandhi’s felony defamation conviction and one day after he got reinstituted as a Lok Sabha MP. Gogoi stated that the Lower House seemed eager to hear from Gandhi. The BJP held a gathering to plan a course of action before the debate on the motion of lack of confidence.

The Supreme Court stayed Rahul Gandhi’s conviction

Days after the highest Court stayed Rahul Gandhi’s conviction in a 2019 defamation case due to his comments about the “Modi surname,” Gandhi, the leader of the Congress, had his position in parliament reinstated. Rahul Gandhi’s exclusion from the Lok Sabha went down, according to a notification from the secretariat.

Rahul Gandhi arrived at the Monsoon session of parliament. As he entered the building, several Opposition party MPs welcomed him. In front of the Mahatma Gandhi statue, the Gandhi scion prayed.

Rahul Gandhi will open the no-confidence vote

According to knowledgeable sources, Congressman Rahul Gandhi will open the no-confidence vote against Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led governance on Tuesday in the Lok Sabha. This fresh occurrence arrives three days after the Supreme Court halted Gandhi’s felony defamation conviction in the case involving the Modi surname and one day after he got reinstituted as a Lok Sabha MP.

On February 7, 2023, Gandhi delivered his final speech in the Lok Sabha after participating in the dialogue of the President’s speech.

After Gandhi’s speech, additional lawmakers take the stage

Gaurav Gogoi, Manish Tewari, and Deepak Baij, party MPs, will probably take the podium after Gandhi to close the debate. Gogoi stated that the Lower House seemed eager to hear from Gandhi.

BJP held a gathering in the meantime with the presence of PM Modi

In the meantime, PM Modi and BJP national party president JP Nadda were present for the parliamentary meeting that occurred earlier in the day. The purpose of the meeting was to plan a course of action before the debate on the motion of lack of confidence, which was due for later on Tuesday.

Rahul Gandhi’s defamation case

On March 23, Rahul Gandhi lost his eligibility to serve in the Lok Sabha after a Gujarat court found him guilty of defamation for his comments about the “Modi surname” and assigned him two years in prison. A legislator becomes immediately disqualified for any sentence of more than two years.
