Anumula Revanth Reddy, the current President of Telangana Congress, is set to be sworn in as the new Chief Minister of Telangana in an elaborate ceremony at Hyderabad’s LB Stadium today. Alongside him, twelve ministers, including prominent figures like Uttam Kumar Reddy, Sridhar Babu, Ponnam Prabhakar, Komatireddy Venkat Reddy, Damodar Rajanarasimha, Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy, Dana Anasuya, Tummala Nageswar Rao, Konda Surekha, and Jupally Krishna Rao, will also take their oaths. Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka will assume the role of Deputy Chief Minister and will be sworn in alongside the ministers and the Chief Minister-elect.
Revanth Reddy, affectionately known as ‘Tiger Revanth,’ emerged victorious against the prominent leader K Chandrashekar Rao of the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), leading the Congress to power in Telangana for the first time since its formation in 2014.
The oath-taking ceremony is expected to witness the presence of Congress leaders such as Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, and Priyanka Gandhi, with an estimated attendance of about one lakh people. The party is celebrating its triumph in Telangana, where Revanth Reddy contested and won from the Kodangal seat, while facing a defeat against BJP’s Katipally Venkata Ramana Reddy in Kamareddy, where he went head-to-head with KCR.
Various dignitaries, including Congress leaders Mallikarjun Kharge, KC Venugopal, and Manikrao Thakare, are anticipated to be present at the event. Invitations have also been extended to former Telangana Chief Minister KCR, Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, Deputy CM DK Shivakumar, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, and TDP chief N Chandrababu Naidu.
Upon assuming office, Chief Minister-elect Revanth Reddy is expected to prioritize the fulfillment of election promises, with his initial act being the signing of a file to provide the first promised job to a 38-year-old woman.
