Ten crore subsidy controversy involving Assam’s CM Himanta Biswa Sarma and his wife


A political uproar broke out in Assam after Congress party deputy leader Gaurav Gogoi accused wife of Assam’s Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, Riniki Bhuyan Sarma, of receiving a government subsidy of 10 crore for her media business, Pride East Entertainments Private Limited. Gogoi claimed that the Ministry of Food Processing website revealed that Mrs. Sarma received Ten crores as part of a credit-linked subsidy for her company.

The PM Kisan Sampada Yojana aims to develop contemporary facilities with effective supply chain management from the farm to the retail level. Congressman Gourav Vallabh claimed that the strategy was straightforward: purchasing farmland and transforming it into industrial property and receiving a subsidy of 10 crores from the authorities of India.

Political turmoil broke out in Assam

After an accusation by the Congress party towards the state’s Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma’s wife, a political upheaval broke out in BJP-ruled Assam.

Himanta’s wife company received a subsidy of 10 crore

Gaurav Gogoi, the deputy leader of the Congress in the Lok Sabha, alleged on the web that Riniki Bhuyan Sarma, the wife of the Assam chief minister, received a subsidy of 10 crores from the government for her media business, Pride East Entertainments Private Limited.

Gogoi also included a screen capture of the Ministry of Food Processing’s website, which revealed that the CM wife’s company, Pride East Entertainments Private Limited, was awarded a credit-linked subsidy worth Ten crore. The Assam chief minister, however, denied the accusations in several posts.

Pride East Entertainments: What is it?

Regional media company Pride East Entertainments Pvt Ltd connects the entire northeast region. Riniki Bhuyan Sharma, wife of Chief Minister Sarma, is the company’s CMD on the website. The Companies Act of 1956 governs the incorporation of Pride East Entertainments Pvt. Ltd. 100 million worldwide, including viewers from India, have access to it.

CM of Assam replies

Himanta Biswa Sarma continually disputes all of the allegations. “I want to make it clear with complete accountability that my wife and the business she collaborates with did not receive or received any subsidies from the Republic of India,” the Assam Chief Minister said.
