Rahul Gandhi says the yatra will go on until India remains unified


On the anniversary of the Bharat Jodo Yatra, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi declared that this yatra would continue until there was no hatred and India appeared to become unified. Gandhi spoke at 12 public gatherings, over 100 street corner gatherings, and 13 press conferences during the yatra. He had over 275 planned interactions while walking and over 100 while sitting.

The yatra transformed Gandhi’s image from a hesitant legislator to someone competent and taken severely by rivals. Notable people participating in the yatra included movie and television stars, former RBI governor Raghuram Rajan, ex-finance secretary Arvind Mayaram, writers and military veterans, and opposition leaders.

Rahul Gandhi, the leader of the Congress, declared on Thursday that the Bharat Jodo Yatra will continue until all forms of hatred vanish and India seems unified, marking the first anniversary of its beginning.

Mr. Gandhi wrote on his Facebook page in Hindi, “The crores of moves of Bharat Jodo Yatra regarding solidarity and affection are now the base of a brighter future for the country.”
“The journey goes on until hate disappears and India seems united. It is my promise,” the leader of the Congress exclaimed.

Mr. Gandhi spoke at 12 public gatherings, over 100 street corner gatherings, and 13 press conferences throughout the yatra. He had more than 275 planned interactions while walking and more than 100 while sitting.

According to several experts, Gandhi’s image change from a hesitant and temporary legislator to someone competent and taken severely by rivals was a significant delivery from the yatra for the Congress. With more than 4,000 miles under his belt, Gandhi captured the attention of his admirers and his critics.

On X, Mr. Gandhi also posted a video montage of the start of his over 4,000 km Kanyakumari to Kashmir yatra from the previous year.

Notable people participated in the yatra

A broad spectrum of the community, including movie and television stars like Akanksha Puri, Amol Palekar, Kamal Haasan, Pooja Bhatt, Rashami Desai, Riya Sen, and Swara Bhasker participated in the march.

Other notable individuals, such as former RBI governor Raghuram Rajan and ex-finance secretary Arvind Mayaram, as well as writers and military veterans, such as former Army chief Gen (Retd) Deepak Kapoor and ex-Navy chief Admiral (Retd) L Ramdas, also took part in the yatra.

At various points during the march, other opposition leaders, including Aaditya Thackeray, Priyanka Chaturvedi, and Sanjay Raut of the Shiv Sena, Farooq Abdullah and Omar Abdullah of the National Conference, Mehbooba Mufti of the PDP, and Supriya Sule of the NCP, walked alongside Gandhi.
