BSNL has begun deploying its 4G network

According to Union IT and Communications Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw on Wednesday, BSNL has begun deploying its 4G network with 200 sites and will launch an average of 200 sites per day after a three-month trial.

By November or December, the minister said, BSNL’s 4G network will be upgraded to 5G.

BSNL was the first company to deploy a 4G–5G telecom stack: Ashwini Vaishnaw

“We have developed a 4G–5G telecom stack in India. BSNL was the first company to deploy that stack. There have been 200 site installations between Chandigarh and Dehradun, and the system will go live in the next two weeks at the most,” according to Vaishnaw.

You’ll be surprised by the speed of BSNL’s deployment. We’ll be working on 200 sites per day after three months of testing. We’ll proceed at that average rate. The BSNL network will operate at first like 4G. With just a small software change, this will turn into 5G very soon, probably in November or December,” Vaishnav added.

For the construction of a 4G network with more than 1.23 lakh sites, BSNL has given TCS and ITI an advance purchase order worth over 19,000 crore Rs.

The 2,00,000th site in Chardham gives us great pride

In Gangotri, he and Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami had just completed the 2,00,000th site when he was speaking to reporters.

“Currently, a new 5G site is activating practically every minute. The entire world is shocked. The 2,00,000th site has been installed in Chardham, which gives us great pride,” Vaishnaw said.

India will lead in 6G: Vaishnav

He pointed out that the Prime Minister has stated that India will lead in 6G and stand alongside the rest of the world in 5G.

India is now an exporter of technology, Vaishnaw continued.
Within five months of the Prime Minister’s October 1 launch of service, the first 1 lakh 5G sites were deployed.

In three months, the subsequent 100,000 sites have been deployed.

Dhami’s statement

“Today, Chardham devotees received a gift in the form of a 5G site. Our border region will now have mobile connectivity as well. Today, the dream we had of having high-speed connectivity in Uttarakhand’s mountainous region has come true,” said Dhami.

The ministers also gave the country a gift of optical fiber connectivity at the Chardham pilgrimage sites in Uttarakhand: Badrinath, Kedarnath, Yamnotri, and Gangotri.
