Oh My God 2 Underwent 27 Cuts


The CBFC has censored Oh My God 2, a film starring Akshay Kumar, Pankaj Tripathi, and Yami Gautam. The film’s opening modification replaced Lord Shiva with Akshay Kumar as the Messenger of God. CBFC also altered many dialogues. Allusions to alcohol and the High Court conversation get removed. The movie had its Ujjain origins and is now based elsewhere. The film has a running time of 156 minutes, with the debut scheduled for August 11.

Additionally, references to the Krishna, Shivling, Pandav, Draupadi, the Shri Bhagavad Gita, the Upanishads, the Gopiyan, Raasleela, and the Atharvaveda disappeared from a crucial dialogue.

Akshay Kumar is now the Messenger of God

The film’s opening modification changed under the CBFC’s guidelines and served with a voiceover. Second, instead of playing Lord Shiva, Akshay Kumar is the Messenger of God. They added a dialogue that said, “Nandi mere bhakt…jo agya prabhu.” Frontal nudity imagery gets removed, and Naga Sadhus replaces them with more appropriate imagery.

Then, an audio cut appeared in a speech of a temple announcement saying, “Mahilayein nahin dekh sakti,” referring to women. ‘O lal shirt waale bhaiya, baba ka dhyan karte rahe’ was used in its place. ‘Savoday’ emerged as the new name for the institution. Then, allusions to alcohol disappeared from the dialogue in “Wahan madira chade hai.”

They also removed the conversation about the High Court because it appeared vulgar and defamatory. This dialogue did not include any visuals.

Additional changes in the movies

They asked to rewrite many dialogues

Numerous other dialogues were rewritten similarly, including “Bade baal dekh kar,” “Satya Shivam Sundaram,” “hamara desh…peeche nahin hai,” and “stree ki yoni.” Some crude gestures cut from the “stree ki yoni” scene.

Not only were the dialogue and visuals changed in the section where Kanti (Pankaj Tripathi) inquiries a sex worker about unusual sex. Similar to this, a character named Dr. Prakah Kothari, who discussed masturbation, had both the visuals and the dialogue appropriately changed. Then, in a conversation about masturbation, “Haram” was changed to “Paap.”

They cut the Ujjain reference from the movie

Interestingly, the movie had its Ujjain origins and is now based elsewhere. The CBFC also ordered the producers to take out any images or verbal allusions to Mahant or other notable figures in authority. Finally, the producers had to provide documentation supporting the statistics and facts about sexual acts that appeared in the film.

The movie gets censored for a total of 13 minutes. The makers received the censor certificate after these cuts received approval. According to the certificate, Oh My God 2 has a running time of 156 minutes. In other words, the 2 hours, 36-minute movie starring Akshay Kumar, Pankaj Tripathi, and Yami Gautam. August 11 will witness the debut of the film.
