RRR’s writer Vijayendra Prasad talks about its sequel

Following a spectacular round of advertising during the Oscar time earlier this year, there has been much discussion about the film’s sequel. RRR became one of the biggest global hits that Indian cinema has ever seen in 2022. Director SS Rajamouli is yet to confirm the existence of a sequel, but now writer Vijayendra Prasad has suggested that the sequel starring the two protagonists might occur in Africa.

The question of whether the movie would get a sequel came up to Prasad, the director of RRR’s father, in a conversation with Bollywood Hungama. “It’s both yes and no,” he said. He claimed that after the movie’s 2022 release, he and his son discussed a potential sequel idea in which the action takes place in Africa. He added that the director liked the concept and asked him to turn it into a complete script. After the film’s screening, he recalled, “I proposed the continuation of the narrative with Ram Charan and NTR Jr, bases in Africa.”

“Rajamouli won’t start thinking about the next film until he finishes the one he’s working on now”

However, the writer also noted that Rajamouli has been working on his upcoming movie with Mahesh Babu and won’t begin thinking about his next endeavor until he completes this one. “Knowing my son’s persona, he won’t give a follow-up idea any thought until the Mahesh movie is over. Then, if he approves of my script, if the two heroes approve it, and if they have the time,” he continued. Vijayendra previously stated to Maha News that a Hollywood director might helm the RRR sequel.
