Writer of popular comedy show Taarak Mehta ka Ooltah Chashmah(TMKOC), Shailesh Lodha have reportedly won the case against producer Asit Modi. According to report from ETimes, Asit Modi is going to pay Rs. 1.05 cr to actor-poet. After being a part of show for 14 years Shailesh quit the show last year.
As per the report, Shailesh filed the lawsuit against producer Asit Modi for non-payment of dues. Asit will now pay Rs 1.05 cr to actor via Demand Draft. When producer failed to clear the outstanding dues, Shailesh had approached National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT) for clearance.
Shailesh Lodha: ‘It Was Never About Money’
Shailesh said in a report that “This fight was never about the money. It was about seeking justice and self-respect. I feel like I have won a battle and I’m happy that the truth has prevailed.” While recalling the exit, he said, “He wanted me to sign some papers to clear my dues. They had certain clauses like you cannot talk to media and other things. I didn’t bow down to the arm-twisting. Why would I sign any papers to get my own money?”
Other actors of show got encouraged and spoke out
He also added that his stand against producer encourages other actors of the TV show to speak out. Without mentioning the details of actor, he said, “One of the actors, who I don’t want to name, wasn’t paid for over three years. After I filed the suit, he was called by the production house and was paid his dues. He called to thank me for it.”
