The conference will commence at 11 a.m. at the party headquarters

On Thursday, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge will preside over a meeting concerning the party’s election readiness in Rajasthan. Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot will participate virtually, while Sachin Pilot is also present at the meeting. The conference will start at 11 a.m. at the party headquarters, per party leaders. Rahul Gandhi, a former party leader, and K.C. Venugopal, the general secretary of Congress, will also be there.

27 Rajasthan leaders expected to join the conference

The chief minister of Rajasthan, Ashok Gehlot, will virtually attend the meeting, according to a party leader who estimated there would be between 25 and 27 Rajasthan leaders in attendance.

Sachin Pilot Also Present In The Meeting

The conference that will take place at the party headquarters will also feature the former deputy chief minister Sachin Pilot, state in-charge Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa, state unit chief Govind Singh Dotasara, and others, according to the party leader.

Gehlot and Pilot’s conflict

According to a party source, senior leaders will discuss the Gehlot and Pilot issue after the conference, so there won’t be any discussion here.

Rahul Gandhi met with Kharge, Gehlot, Pilot, and Venugopal on May 27, the day before departing for the US, to discuss the ongoing political situation in the desert state. After the meeting, Venugopal announced that the party would run as a unit in the Rajasthan Assembly elections later this year, which ended the state’s crisis. There was, yet, no discussed equation.

History of Gehlot and Pilot’s Conflict

Sachin Pilot appears as a contender for the position of chief minister, but Gehlot is reportedly reticent to cede control. When Pilot led a “rebellion” against Gehlot in 2020, a dispute between the two leaders broke out. Both parties have frequently criticized one another in front of the public. Before it negatively affects the party’s chances in the upcoming elections, the Congress party wants to solve the conflict.

The Congress president already had similar meetings with leaders from the states holding elections, including Chhattisgarh, Telangana, Mizoram, and Madhya Pradesh, to discuss election readiness and to develop a winning strategy for the Assembly elections.
