Indian visa services will get halted in Canada

There hasn’t been a formal announcement about the suspension of the visa services- BLS International, the organization in charge of running the Canadian visa application centers, posted an alert on its Canadian website stating, “Important notification from the Indian Mission: Due to operational factors, with implications from September 21, 2023 [Thursday], Indian visa facilities get temporarily hung until further notice.”

The suspension emerged by an Indian official, who declined to give further details but said, “The tone is straightforward, and it says what it wants to state.” Since the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic, India never hung visa services before.

Politically-condoned hate offenses

India issued a warning on Wednesday, advising Indian students and NRIs in Canada to use caution as tension keeps rising, citing an increase in anti-Indian actions and calling “politically-condoned hate offenses.” Mainly, They urge Indian students to be cautious.

The Canadian Foreign Ministry’s announcement

A representative for the Canadian foreign ministry acknowledged that some diplomats got threats on social media sites and said, “Global Affairs Canada [the foreign ministry] is reviewing its personnel complement in India. We decided to temporarily alter the staff presence in India out of extreme caution. To guarantee business and operational stability, officials and locally employed staff are present at our locations.”

The murder of Hardeep Singh Nijjar, who received a gunshot in the parking lot of the Guru Nanak Sikh Gurdwara in Surrey, British Columbia, served as the impetus for this advancement. Nijjar was a well-known member of the separatist organization Sikhs for Justice (SFJ), which accused India of planning his murder.
