Biopic on Subrata Roy ‘Saharasri’ first look released

A biopic on Subrata Roy, the founder of Sahara India Pariwar is all set to go on floors next year. On Saturday, the first look of the movie got released. Filmmaker Sudipto Sen, whole latest movie ‘The Kerala Story’ is constantly in news due to controversies, will direct this biopic. Lead actors who will be part of this biopic are yet to be decided.

Saharasri First Look

Trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted a 36 second long clip, giving a quick peek of ‘Saharasri’ first look. Video showcases that a man with a cheque of ₹ 250000000000 for ‘people of India’ signed by Subrata Roy. Thousands of people are standing behind this man holding the cheque.

Shooting of this movie is going to start next year. It will be shot in multiple locations including Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Kolkata, Delhi and London. AR Rahman will compose the music and Gulzar will pen down the lyrics. Movie is going to be released in multiple languages including Hindi, Malayalam, Kannada, Telugu, Tamil and Bengali.

Sudipto announced on Twitter platform about this upcoming biopic. He wrote “Embarking on a voyage of the unusual enigma of SAHARASRI Subrata Roy. A fascinating ride through the troughs and crests of his journey, called life. Keep your eyes peeled as this tale of resilience and triumph to reveals what is unspoken, unheard & unfathomed!”

History of Subrata Roy

According to Bloomberg report in year 2020, Supreme Court of India ruled in 2012 that Sahara group companies illegally raised $3.5 billion and violated security laws. According to Sahara group, this huge amount of money was raised in cash from millions of Indians across nation, who could not avail the banking services and facilities. The court sent Subrata Roy to jail, when Sahara firms failed to pay back and Sebi couldn’t trace the investors. A web series ‘Bad Boy Billionaires’ has also featured the case of Subrata Roy.
