Special Session Of Parliament Called From Sept 18 to 22

Union Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Pralhad Joshi announced a special session of Parliament from September 18 to 22, consisting of five sittings. The monsoon session of Parliament occurred in the former building. Political circles seemed surprised by the announcement, especially given the upcoming assembly elections in five states later this year.

The administration kept the extra Parliamentary session’s agenda a secret. Priyanka Chaturvedi, a Rajya Sabha MP and Shiv Sena leader condemned both the call for the special meeting and the fact that it fell on Ganesh Chaturthi in India.

The dates for a special session of Parliament are September 18–22

The Union Minister for Parliamentary Affairs, Pralhad Joshi, announced that a special five-day session of Parliament is being held from September 18 to September 22.

A special session of Parliament

Union Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Pralhad Joshi announced on Thursday that a special session of Parliament will occur from September 18 to 22 and include five sittings. In the presence of Amrit Kaal, he expressed his desire for productive discussions and arguments in the legislature.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi highlighted the differences between the two buildings by including images of the previous and recently inaugurated new parliament buildings with his remarks. It’s important to note that last month’s monsoon session of Parliament occurred in the former Parliament building.

Pralhad Joshi’s tweet on X

“A special session of Parliament, consisting of five sittings and the 13th and 261st sessions of the 17th Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha, respectively, is being called from September 18 to September 22. Joshi posted on ‘X’ (previously Twitter), “Amid Amrit Kaal seeking towards having productive conversations and discussion in Parliament.”

Political circles appeared surprised

Political circles seemed surprised by the announcement of the unplanned Special Session, especially given that parties are gearing up for upcoming assembly elections in five states later this year. The start of the winter session of Parliament is customarily in the final week of November.

The administration has not, however, made the agenda for the extra Parliamentary session public.

Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Priyanka Chaturvedi’s remark

In response to the news of the special session, Rajya Sabha MP and Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Priyanka Chaturvedi said it was regrettable that the meeting occurred “during India’s most important festival of Ganesh Chaturthi.” The call for the special gathering “goes against the Hindu sentiments,” she continued.

The Parliament’s Monsoon Session

The Parliament’s Monsoon Session ran from July 20 to August 11. Twenty bills came up during the session in the Lok Sabha, and five bills appeared in the Rajya Sabha. The Lok Sabha passed 22 Bills, and the Rajya Sabha approved 25. With the permission of the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha, respectively, one Bill appeared withdrawn. There were 23 bills passed in total by the two houses of Parliament during the session.

Due to the violence in Manipur, the sessions stopped almost daily, and the opposition leaders introduced a motion of no confidence against the Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led government at the Centre. That was nonetheless defeated in Lok Sabha by voice vote.
